Everyone starts somewhere. There is always that one spark which gets us going. For some people, it’s a movie, for others, a live event. Most people get inspired from the things in their immediate surroundings, like their parents, their parents’ hobbies or whatever else they are exposed to.
My love for cars and all things vehicular came from the now classic show Pimp My Ride. It was a show that we all (well, friends and me) gather around to watch; it was our fun pastime, long before we started having fun online with an Online Lottery Promo Code, or similar offers. This show was very special at the time and was single-handedly responsible for igniting my passion for cars. Here is how the show influenced me.
The Idea of Helping Others
The core of the show was supposed to be that idea of helping others and making their once terrible car a much better ride than it used to be. That very thing inspired me, not because the cars looked much better after getting their treatment, but because we should strive to help others as much as we can.
For the world, the show was entertainment, and of the best kind, but for the owners and those involved in the car repairs and modifications, it was a job and an act of kindness, for the most part anyway. That concept of helping others and working on cars inspired me to learn more about all things car-related.
Cars Looking Better
What most people watched the show for was the part where the cars get much better looking and of course, get a full treatment, service and repairs.
From something that was bound to end up on the scrap heap to something that can be used with style and will be recognized by everyone who watched the show, the cars truly undergo a transformation.
Everyone dreamt at the time of making their own car or actually, their parents’ cars, into something much prettier and visually more pleasing. Though, the visuals aren’t the only thing that inspired me.
The Process of Enhancing the Cars
The process that the cars went through was one of the first things that caught my eye. I was always interested in technical things and even though this was a TV show, there were enough technicalities to satisfy my curiosity for a while.
More importantly, these technical details served a purpose of making me want to learn more about cars and mechanics in general. As far as inspiration was concerned, Pimp My Ride did a perfect job in my case. Though, the show itself wasn’t what we thought it to be, as we have found out in later years, long after the show was canceled.
The Dark Side of Pimp My Ride
Pimp My Ride made the owners’ vehicles look and feel better, or did it? The process of making the car better often lasted for 6 months or more, even though it would appear that it lasted a couple of days in the show. The participants were coached to make their reactions appear much more dramatic than they were.
Some cars would typically fall apart after a while, because the show had little to no consideration about the cars’ maintenance after they had been pimped. Given that all of the cars were in ridiculously bad conditions to start with, the owners were definitely not swimming in money.
Pimp My Ride is a classic show that might not have done everything right, but had inspired me and many others to take up cars as a hobby.
