When planning your classic car road trip, you may not have considered that you can take your car from Europe to Northern Africa very quickly but you can, and it will make a road trip that you will never forget. This is an excellent option if you are on a budget.
Your starting point is the Portuguese city of Porto. This is a great place to sample some of the local wine and visit a few cultural attractions. The city has a fantastic waterfront where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants where you can indulge in local cuisine. From here you can head towards Amarante. This is another place known for wine production and visiting a few vineyards in the area is a must.
Time to Relax
When you are in this part of the world, you should not miss out on the opportunity to spend a day or two at one of the region’s beaches. Your route can take you through Figueira da Foz and Peniche, where you can soak up the sun for a while. Ericeira has a very tranquil beach away from the crowds. The capital city of Lisbon is just an hour from Ericeira, and it is perfect if you want to do some sightseeing and enjoy some nightlife.
From Portugal, you can move on to Spain to the port of Algeciras. It is a long drive here from Lisbon but gives you a good chance to test out your classic car on these European roads. When you reach Algeciras, you can hop on a ferry that will take you and your classic car over to Morocco and the city of Tangier. Here you will find the culture to be very different from that in Spain and Portugal. However, there are still plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.
